Applying An English Teacher Entry Level Position

Dear Mrs. Smith,

I am writing in response to this week’s advertisement for the position of English Teacher at the Journal of Higher Education Outreach and Engagement. I have enclosed my curriculum vitae and cover letter for your consideration.

I am a recent graduate of the Boston University with a Master’s degree in English Literature. In addition, I am certified to teach Spanish and Special Education. Having fulfilled my teaching requirement in the respective district, I have also volunteered for an adult literacy program, focused on members of the Hispanic community in Boston. I have prepared and organized teaching materials at East Boston High School, which benefited students with special needs.

I have also satisfied my practice teaching requirements in District 4. While teaching in the area, I was impressed by the outstanding educational standard and the achievements of the graduating students who demonstrated some of the highest SAT scores in the United States. It will be honor, indeed, to teach in such a well-reputed district.

I will be calling you on Wednesday, August 12, to arrange a meeting at your convenience. I am looking forward to discussing your needs and requirements with regards to my skills and qualifications.

Best regards,
